How it works

Get your portfolio grade, evaluated across five criteria.

No finance degree required. No sugarcoating either.

Will I like my grade?
Arlo
Maybe, maybe not. I grade your portfolio against the goals you said you have, not the ones you wish you had.
Step 01

A few quick questions

Tell me what you actually want out of your investments, not what you think you should want. No pressure. Just answer my questions the way you would with a friend.

Step 02

Link your brokerage with Plaid

I'll read your current investment holdings through Plaid, the same tech your favorite finance apps already use.

Step 03

Get your grade

Just like a report card from school, you'll get a letter grade from A to F and a deep analysis of why you got it. Learn from your analysis, then share your grade with friends so they can find out theirs too.

Two minutes from now, you’ll know.

Here’s what a finished grade actually looks like.

Each grade comes with a single letter, a breakdown across five criteria, and a written analysis from Arlo. Tap the card to read Arlo’s notes — or switch between sample portfolios to see how the grade changes with the holdings.

From Arlo

You said “preserve capital.” That’s exactly what you built.

Bonds, dividend equities, and low-beta core ETFs. β of 0.55 lines up with someone whose intake said preserve and stay invested.

There are aggressive investors a few grades behind you who'd genuinely learn from how you size positions and pick your spots.

The careful set of holdings most retail investors just talk about wanting.

Privacy & security

Your data is yours. Read-only via Plaid.

Bank-grade Plaid connection, encrypted end-to-end. Here are the details.

  1. QHow is my data secure?

  2. QDo I need an account?
AYou don't need a dub account to use the grader. You will need to be investing through a Plaid-supported brokerage and have enough holdings and account history for Arlo to get an accurate read.
  3. QCan you trade for me?
ANo. The connection is read-only. We see what you own. We cannot buy, sell, transfer, or move a single dollar.
FAQs

Questions?

The most common ones, answered.

  • Yes. The grader is free to use.

  • Two dimensions: Construction and Fit. Construction looks at how your portfolio is built. That covers single-position concentration (any one underlying exceeding methodology thresholds), sector concentration (any one sector dominating equity exposure, with a tighter cap for tech), and speculation weight (how much of your holdings sit in leveraged or inverse ETFs, directional options, shorts, and margin). Fit looks at whether your holdings match what you told Arlo. That covers expected posture from your intake answers vs. actual posture from your β, and specific goal/holdings mismatches like "preserve" with high β or "income" with low yield. Your net-worth-share answer multiplies the concentration thresholds. If it's essentially all your money, findings trigger at lower exposure levels. What the grade is NOT: not performance or returns, not a skill endorsement, and not investment advice.

  • No. The grader is a diagnostic.

  • We want to make advanced investment tools, previously gated for the wealthy, available to anyone.

  • Any account Plaid supports: Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, E*TRADE, Robinhood, and most retirement brokerages.
